View Full Version : Just Curious??

I'd be interested to know how many people had colonoscopies and were much later diagnosed with cancer. Also how long after the c'scope were you diagnosed. Everything I've read indicates that colorectal cancer grows slowly and that having a c'scope every 10 years would be a good preventive measure. So, my question is has anyone had a scope and then developed cancer in a shorter than 10 year timeframe?

A couple of you have already answered this on another thread, so you don't need to reply again unless you want to (or if you have additional info you'd like to add). Thanks so much.

yep,me! I had a c'scopy and was to get another one in 5 years.I didn't. However, 7 years after that c'scopy I had bleeding from the bum and(skip forward) ended up having my entire rectum removed due to cancer. After age 40 or 45 I am told the commen medical wisdom is a scope every 5 years and if a polyp is found then the next scope should be in 3 years rather than 5.

Jaydees:
Can you tell me about the bleeding you had - i.e. how often did bleeding occur, was blood mixed in with stool or just on tp or in toilet, how much blood, and did it happen with every bm or just sometimes? Also, did you go to doc right away or wait to see if it would clear up on its own? Thanks and hope you are doing well.

Yes, I'd like to know how the bleeding is from someone who had CC. I'm also wondering if bleeding is one of the earlier symptoms, as it seems like alot of people who went to the doc a little while after they had bleeding caught it stage III or earlier and lived.
