Hello all, Karl had a colonostomy yesterday and the plan now is to let his bowel heal a bit then start chemo and radiation. They will then do a pelvic exernteration. Removing the bladder plus.
We are staying optimistic but it seems each time we turn around there is more.
I asked the Doctor about the lung scan but she didn't have the results yet, and will update me about that on Monday.
I wish there was no cancer in any of our lives.

Oh gosh, I am sorry...he has to get his bladder removed too? Hope the lung scan comes back clear. My thoughts are with you. We are still waiting for my mom's protocol. We are praying she is only stage 1. Hopefully he will have a fast recovery with no complications....
You are such a great BIL, by being so involved...he is lucky to have you :)

Hello BIL
Hope Karl is healing well.
I sympathise with your comment that there always seems to be more around each corner. I think the docs try to give you the big picture - piece by piece, little by little. I have found that they rarely tell you everything they know within one conversation. Probably rightly so in some cases as it would just be total overload. We got a bit wise to it and every time i stood infront of a doctor who was going to tell me something about my husband, i had my own agenda and a list of questions i wanted answering. At the end of each conversation I used to summarise what they had told me so that there was no chance of misunderstanding. The docs can be a hard bunch of nuts to crack can't they?
Good luck

Thanks ktee for the info.
I have had to deal
with 3 different cancer Doctors over the past 2 years and have come to realize that you have to read between the lines.
There is a lot, I know that Wendy and Karl could not handle been told at the moment and I am sure that over the next few weeks more will be revealed to them.
Right now it's One day at a Time and then we will go from there.
I just spoke with Karl and he had real food at lunch which has made him happy. Sounds very good and hopefully that attitude will stay but as we all know that may not be possible...again one day at a time.
