Hi. This is piece of crap 76.

Lately I haven't been feeling so great. Sometimes I feel nauseated and feel generally worn out. I'm part hispanic, 14, and have a family history of diabetes. Is this alone enough to see the doctor or should I wait to see if I have more symptoms?

Aside for your volgar introduction, I feel that any illness that lasts more than 24 hours, especially at your your age, should be looked into. Don't jump the gun by thinking it's diabetes. At your age there are a lot of hormonal issues and metabolic body changes your going through. If you really feel bad I think you should let the doctor decide what's going on with you. Good luck

Earl,
I totally agree with Ron. You could have mono or some other virus, you could have a mild form of depression, or it could be any number of other, not serious, things. Best thing to do is see a doctor.

Hi, Earl! I hope you have the sort of parents you can talk things over with, and I would suggest that if you can, you tell them you haven't been feeling right and ask them to arrange a check-up for you. Your check up should include a fasting blood glucose test, a test called "A1c", which measures average blood glucose over a 3 month period, a urinalysis, and whatever complete metabolic panel your Dr's lab uses. Good luck!
