hey there

i`ve been to the gyno about 8 months ago ,and nothing was wrong with me ... i was clean!!till recently .. i was cleaning out my vagina with water witch i always do..(i`m very higenic) then i found a gland like thing, i read a little up on what it might be and i came to the conclusion with the help of some surfing that is is a Bartholin's gland cyst, but i have no idea how this could happen ,seeing that i`m in a happy marrige for two years now ( witch they say might be a sexual transmitted bacteria) i`m clue less to everything .. on how it actually get removed and so on ... i don`t have the weird simptoms and it is not that big .. for a while now it`s the size of a pee .. and it`s not uncomfortable .. but i do have pain during intercourse but slight pain...eish and could this really be a sexual trasmitted bacteria .. if so then i might have to relook my marriage...

please help me i`m concernd
thank you

Its probably just a blocked duct!!! Dont panic, go to the doc! Who knows what, if any bacteria are in there. Dont wait til it gets bigger, dont beat yourself up mentally. Just go. :D

since you have read up enough to figure out what you think this probably is, I'm surprised you haven't also read about the causes.
If a flap of skin grows over the opening of one of the glands, the fluid backs up. It causes a round swelling called a cyst. The cyst can grow from the size of a penny to larger than an orange, although most don't get bigger than a golf ball. They can be tender.
Most of the time, Bartholin's gland cysts are not infected. In some cases, however, they can be caused by an infection, or they may become infected. Most infected cysts contain the normal bacteria that are found on your skin. You may notice a round, painless or slightly tender bulge in one of the vaginal lips, near the opening of the vagina. It may stay the same size or may slowly grow larger. Cysts that get infected are usually very tender. In extreme cases, walking may be painful. Your doctor will look at the area to see if you have a cyst and to find out if it's infected.
The treatment can depend on one or more of these factors: the size of the cyst, how painful it is, if it's infected and your age.
These cysts seem to be more of a case of "bad luck" than anything else. It's very hard to keep them from happening.

Hi! I just joined the group, and I'm so glad I did, because I have undergone TWO surgeries for the removal of Bartholin Gland's cysts. They are not harmful.. they are just uncomfortable and kinda not so pretty. My husband and I are always careful and clean, so like you, I didn't know why I was getting them. Evidently, the cause is pretty much unknown. If you are like me, you are also not getting the lubrication you once did, due to the fact that the Bartholin Gland is responsible for creating that lubrication, and when there is a cyst there, it blocks it from forming. Anyhow, to answer your question, the cause is unknown.. just one of those things that happens. I had mine removed because they were becoming really tender, and I was tired of not having any lubrication. They go in, open it up, and let it drain. Recovery is about 3 days, and it's not so bad. However, as I mentioned, I have had TWO surgeries now... one was done in December 2003, the other was done in June, only about 6 months apart. And guess what.. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but mine is back yet again, although it is a lot smaller this time around. My doc told me that some people who get these continue to get them for a long time. If I were you, I would not get the surgery unless it's really bothering you and you have good health insurance. Hope this helps.

The gland syst i have arent bothersome ... nore has it grown bigger!only thing that stopped me from going is the sugery...and ... if me and u r, the same then i would definitly like being normal ;) i`ve heard they can remove this with a lazer?? can u tell me anything about that ?? My mother urged me to go for lazer rather than cutting it open and removing it ...she sais the damage is less ...?? and then one more thing !!!... do they give u an INJECTION down there ???????
