Once in a while my husband will get real bad gas (belching like crazy), anxiety real bad and feeling like he needs to get some air, plus a tired feeling in his chest (no pain, no pressure, nothing like that, just a tired chest - that is how he describes it, I don't understand it) These things always occur together. He gets it when he lays down, he has to walk around or stand up to feel better. He also hasn't had it since I stopped making anything with garlic or tomato sauces (4 days)
Here's some background - he's 52 years old, he has a LOT of missing teeth so his food isn't chewed properly, he lays down a lot after eating, he's a heavy smoker. The episodes only last about 45 minutes because at the onset he'll take a Gax-X and one of my Xanax's! So I don't know which is helping him or if NEITHER are helping and the problem is resolving on it's own!
Any ideas would be welcome.

I bet it's just acid reflux with a combination of anxiety. I get that a lot until I started to eat less, eat more slowley and make sure I chew my food more before swalloing. I think I had a tendancy, when I was really hungry, to just engulf my food and would have these symptoms. I'm a hypochondriac so chest sensations put me into a tailspin of paranoia and anxiety that feed on itself until I end up taking a Ativan to calm down. I wouldn't worry about it much. Pehaps he needs something like AciPhex or Nexium. Good luck.

Oh thank you :)
And he did say he gets it if he eats a LOT, so that does make sense! I think an acid pill would be better than a Xanax!
