View Full Version : Iron absorbtion, dosage, herbs

I've been taking iron supplements for almost 4 months, and my anemia is the same ("mild", but not improving, and the symptoms are bad). Someone told me that there's an herb -- yellow dock -- that helps with iron absorbtion. Has anyone heard of it, or tried it? I'm always cautious with medication since I'm very sensitive to everything I put in my body.

Otherwise, what more can I do to improve those numbers/symptoms? (I already take the iron with Vitamin C). Should I increase the dose? My doctor says it makes no difference.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Meagan,

I take chromagen which has brought my iron up, but not as high as the hematologist would like, so I started taking yellow dock about three weeks ago. I take the yellow dock root tincture, 12 drops 3x's a day. I don't get my blood checked again for three weeks, but when I do, I will let you know if the yellow dock is working.
