Hello everyone. I am sitting here in PAIN because I have had a headache for the past week on the right side of my head only. It's the vice-grip kind of headache and it's mostly in my temple. It comes and goes, but sometimes it just THROBS so badly it hurts everytime I move my eyes. I dont think it's a caffeine headache because I have not changed my coffee-drinking ritual. I hope it's just sinuses, but I am scared it could be something worse. I have never gotten migraines before. It's been every single day for a week. I have taken advil and it works only temporarily, but I don't want to take too much of that stuff. Anyone have any clue what this could possibly be? Anyone ever had such a thing happen to them?

I feel your pain, honey. I've had a constant headache for a little over a week, and the pain will come and go and no amount of ibuprofen will cure it. The only difference is that my headache is right in the center of my forehead.
As for you, I think I can safely say you may be suffering from migraines. Migraines most always "appear" on either side of the head. The pain doesn't need to constantly remain steady - some days it's okay, and others it feels like your head wants to explode.
I've asked about my own condition elsewhere and people have recommended using Excedrin, which supposedly works wonders for migraine pain. Also, I advise you to avoid diet sodas (if you drink them, that is); they contain artificial sweeteners that can be deadly during headaches.
.........
And note that some painkillers can actually cause headaches...isn't that a kick in the rear-end? O.o
......
But don't rule out other possibilities...a headache can mean any number of possibilities, ranging from a hormone imbalance to grinding of the teeth during sleep to an ear infection.
If your vision is or becomes blurry or you have trouble moving any part of your body during these headaches, get medical attention right away - such a situation is an emergency!
........
Best of luck to you, SarahE10. I hope your headache goes away soon!

even though this could be just a migraine, if this is new for you, then go see your dr about this. you should always report something new to the doc.

Thanks Dark Stranger! I can't even tell you how much artificial sweetener I ingest every day. I have about 2-3 cups of coffee per day, always with splenda instead of regular sugar. And if I have a soda, it's always diet. That probably has a lot to do with it!
