View Full Version : Waiting for the Other Shoe to Drop...

Okay, I'll admit, the title did make me laugh :) If we can't laugh about these problems at times though, we'd never get through, really. So on to the serious stuff. Has anyone dealt with a major foot problem in one foot, only to find the "good" foot developed problems after awhile? I have felt bad for my left foot for awhile--having to be the foot that gets me around and takes all the stress. Lately, I've had more pain in that foot--more plantar fasciitis, more pain from bearing all the weight. Today, my left ankle gave out completely. Everyone's ankle gives out a little bit sometimes, but it has never been like this for me--if I was not directly in front of the doorknob to the lecture hall, I would have fallen flat on my face without anything to grab on to. It does concern me, so I will bring it up at my next OS visit in 2.5 weeks... So who has some stories to share? I am dreading having to take care of the left foot now...

Hi, Karyn. I just read your post, and it made me laugh and also shudder! The quote "waiting for the other shoe to drop" is indeed funny. But your post is what also worries me! I have been suffering all lot for a long time now, with tendonitis in my left heel. I think I'd beg to be "put down" if I develop problems with my right heel as well, lol! Actually, my right foot does bother me at times; probably because when my left heel hurts all lot, I start walking oddly, which stresses out my right foot. It definately is a worry to me: having both feet go out on me! I just wanted to say I can relate to what you've said. I'm still bravely limping along with one semi-decent foot still. Hopefully me left heel won't start to sicken my right heel! Take care...best of luck to you...Debbie

See, that's what I worry about--I will say to my physical therapist, "I really am having pain in my left foot." He looks around nervously and says, "That's because you're favoring the right foot!" I think he is afraid to admit/diagnose any more problems! Yes he's partially correct, but I still think I'm prone to foot issues in general. No one has ever said "Why didn't your left foot have problems?" , but the podiatrist told me once before that I probably had some problems with the right foot (gait problem, etc.) that caused the right to have a more severe problem. I am a planner, and worry about having to take it easy on a semi-bad right foot while the currently semi-decent left foot gets fixed. Good luck Debbie! Thanks for the reply!
