My son is 5 and dx w/pddnos,my little girl is 13 mo old and needs her mmr shot.I'm having a hard time making my mind up. I dont believe my son was injured by his mmr(was stimming as a baby)

News reports say its safe and I have heard that they have removed all the thermisol from current mmr vacs.

Then again, autism runs in her family very close and do not want to tempt fate.

I dont wanrt my daughter to contract measles mumps or rubella either and its on the rise since vaccines are down HELP ME!!!

polly2004,

I can so relate to you! My 3yr daughter is on the spectrum and my 5 yr old daughter had to have a MMR booster just to get into kindergarten this year. I was terrified to immunize her. But, I went ahead and proceeded and she was fine from it. However, I will never get another MMR for my spectrum baby. Forget it, uh-uh, no way jose', nadda, zilch, not gonna happen. In my state, you can sign a waiver and do not HAVE to get their shots. Look into that option as well.
I am almost 99.9% sure she regressed after having her MMR shot, so I don't ever want to take the chance of her regressing even further. Just my 2cents worth, LOL!

IF I have another one... I really don't think I will give it ANY shots... but most of all the MMR shot is OUT OF THE QUESTION! Do I think it caused my ds's Autims, no not really, but it couldn't have helped!

My son had all his shots up to the age of 4. Do I think it caused is autism....no, but I do think it may have played a part in it. Just about the time he was due for his next round of shots, my state passed a law giving parents a conscience right regard vaccines. My husband and I debated for a long time and decided no more shots....ever!

Something to consider.....although my state (TX) passed this law, they are not making it very public. The media is still pushing vaccines. I found out about the new law thru an autism support group I attend. Call your state health department and check your rights.

hey there. I would not do it if i were you. I have a daughter on the spectrum and an older son who is not on the spectrum. It is time to give him his boosters and i signed a waivor to get them waived. I will not take the chance. 85% of kids that contract measels have been vaccinated. Obviousley it isnt that great of a vaccine. MMR never contained Thimerasal. It is the combination of the three vaccines in one that mess the kiddos up. Also the measels virus stays in our ASD kids. This can really mess them up. My daughter actually never got the MMR . Luckly i wised up before it was time to get it for her. My daughter began arching neck and back at 3 weeks old just one day after receiving her hep b shot. I would check into getting them waived. Just my opinion. Hope everything works out for you.

I am VERY glad to have read what texasmommy just wrote. We just moved into the state of TX and I was concerned re: what their law was on the issue of immunizations.

My aunt, not biological (I'm adopted), took her son in for his 2 yr check-up. He was doing so well, doctor noted in his record how advanced he was, was speaking lots of words, and then he received his round of shots! Two days later he was brought back to the office because something changed...he had autism!

My oldest 2 have received several immunizations...however, they have not received any since the age of 4. I also refused the chicken pox and many of the other newly developed immunizations.

My youngest son (the one in question re: autism) has not received any shots since his round in the hospital. This was mainly due to his low immune system. Now that he has these developmental problems have arose we fear of possible further regression. Our previous pediatrician did not PUSH us...he always told us of the dangers with not having him immunized. But he understood and never argued.

I picked up a book from the library on Autism Spectrum Disorders and there are some interesting facts re: immunizations and autism. If I am allowed to I would cite the book and list several of the facts. Someone just let me know if it is allowed or not please.

Also...several states allow you to waiver for religious reasons. Good luck on your decision.

NaomiR - Welcome to Texas! It is very easy to get your waiver in Texas now. I don't think I can actually list the website, but vaccineinfo and look for state mandates you should be able to find it.

Hi:

What a question. mmr or not to mmr.

I did not give my son the mmr until he was over 2 yrs because I was afraid of autism (nephew has asperger's). My son definately does have ASD and I just found out that it was probably caused by high levels of mercury due to immunizations and RhoGam shot given to me while I was pregnant.

I so worried about immunizations and now I found out we were doomed from the start. I don't know if this helps you any but maybe you can think about what was given to you when you were pregnant.

I hate that I can't trust what the doctor might or might not be putting into my son's body "for his own good". Did they take out the mercury or didn't they? Did they just rename the chemical and keep on using it? It turns my stomach just thinking about it.
