Well I had another bad pap this is my third one. I had one abnormal when I was pregnant with my daughter in April of 2002, I had coloposcopy but no bioposy because it didn't look bad enough to risk it during the pregnancy. It was supposed to be repeated at 28 weeks but I moved to NH and the dr forgot about it and then when I said something to her about it she said it was ok to wait till my 6 week chkup. At my 6 week chkup I had a brand new midwife and I really feel as if she had no clue. but my pap came back normal.
As soon as I moved back to MA I made an appt with my old dr becasue I felt like the midwife in NH wasn't right. The results were abnormal, due to squamus cells and mild dysplasia. A week before my second colposcopy I found out I was pregnant with Aidan, so again they decided not to do the bioposy because it didn't look that bad. I had a repeat at 28 wks and it was normal as was my the one from 6 week chkup. But once you have an abnormal my midwife has you in every four months till you get three normals. So in August I went again. And it was abnormal.
I have an appt for a biopsoy on Nov 3. My mom doed of cervical cancer in july 2002. She was only 41 yrs old. I can't believe I have to stress like this till Nov 3. I don't think I can handle it. I just want to go and get it over with and know what is wrong.
What will the biopsy be like? My midwife said all i need is a few asprins before hand. I think I need at least a handful of xanax. lol

I am going to be totally honest with you......The biopsy is NOTHING. I didn't even feel it. If you feel anything at all you may feel the pressure of the speculum. I was panicked too. I had moderate to severe displasia and I have had three normal paps. My FIL is a Gynocological Oncologist and my husband is a Radiation Therapist so believe me when I tell you I researched it all. A biopsy tells if there are cells on the surface..what your mother died from was embedded cells deep in the cervix. That's why they do biopsy's and cold knife conazation to take them out before anything like what your mother had happens. If it was life threatening they would NOT let it go until after you had your baby. Let me put it to you like my FIL told me.....It's as if you had a precancerous growth on your skin....so they do a biopsy and find out it could grow bigger and cause a problem.....so they remove it.....Well a thats the same kind of cells that this is. Its not a DEEP cancer such as lung or brain. I had the surgery to remove mine and that wasn't even a big deal...the worst part was the IV. I got the BEST sleep I ever had and woke up just fine and was hungry so they made me toast and after about an hour of recovery I went home and took some Tylonol (which I didn't need) for cramping and was back to normal as soon as I stood up. You've had a child.....you are going to be fine and comfortable during the biopsy. You won't feel it I'm telling you for some reason it's almost numb in there, especially after you had a baby. You do NOT need xanex trust me and I can't believe the nurse told you that! Motrin may help if you cramp easily. I was scared out of my mind and I was sick to my stomach in fear. I was told to not worry about it and just get the biopsy and get the surgery and get paps and wal lah! Good as new and I can share my story with you. My sister had to have a hysterectomy but her's was really bad and she NEVER went to her gyno but she is fine and has no problems. My other friend had it done and went on to have two more children...bringing her to four! Your doing more damage by worrying. Let the docs to what they have to do....it's easier than going to the dentist for a cleaning. Keep us posted. DON'T WORRY!

I agree, the biopsy in nothing. At worst you will feel a slight pinch and feel a little crampy for a few hours after.
But don't take aspirin!! It will make it harder to stop any bleeding afterwards, and they don't like to let you get up and go home until it pretty much stops. Try taking some ibuprofin instead, about 30 min to 1 hr before.

Are you having a cone biopsy where they put you to sleep or are you just having a biopsy in the doctors office? I had both didn't feel the first one the doctor was great and the cone I was out like a light, didn't have any pain other than slight cramping, but I did bleed for 4 weeks and then on top of that I got my period so for 5 weeks I was bleeding not heavily but spotting. In my situation they did find adenocarcinoma and I am scheduled for a hyst. on Oct.5th which is right around the corner. You should call your doctor office and tell them if they have a cancellation you would like to take the appt. sometimes they can get you in earlier. Express to your doctor your concerns on waiting and sometimes they can get you in earlier, I know the waiting sucks and I have been there, just stay calm and stay busy.

Ninjacowboy- You are right my midwife did say ib's not asprin.Soulcatcher- Thank you for all the info. And the nurse told me I would only need to take some ib's. I thought I might need something to calm my nerves. I'm not so much worried baout it hurting but about stressing about what is going to happen after the results come back. I have three kids and I didn't have drugs for any of them so I know I can handle the pain if there is some. Ijust hate thinking about stressing till then. Luckily I already have my appt to discuss the results and it is only a few days after the intial appt. I am going for a coloposcopy and a regular bioposy, not a cone biopsy. What are the things that could come out of this bioposy? I'm not sure if that makes s ense or not but what I mean is what may happen next?

I finally got to speak with my midwife and found out exactly what was wrong with my pap. My pap didn't even come back with dysplasia just atypical cells due to HPV. She said that she is pretty sure that they will just do a colopscopy and possibly a bioposy depending on what they see and then retest me every 4 months. I am so relieved.
