im on Levaquin for an upper res. infection (suspected sinus infection). I have been fine on this med for the past couple of days and then yesterday i took a nap midday, and woke up with one of those real kinds of sore throat on the right side of my throat. Later in the night my right nostril became stuffy and runny and the throat kept me up all night. This throat is DRIVING me nuts. The only thing i can think of is that ive caught something viral that the Levaquin cant touch. The other side of that , this came on in about an hour and a half nap ????? What the heck???? Can everyday throat irritation somehow progress to a bad sore throat (and that quick)???? Is the levaquin causing an adverse infection??? Anyone who might have any insight, id appreciate

Were you sleeping on your right side for your nap? I know when my sinuses are draining it can make my throat hurt pretty bad, and it's usually worse on one side. Try drinking some hot tea to break up any mucous in your throat. The heat will help it feel better too. Once that gunk is outta there, it should start to feel better pretty quick. In the future, maybe try using a saline nasal spray to keep stuff thinned out so it's less likely to get 'stuck' in your throat like that.
Also, it probably showed up after your nap because laying down directs drainage more down your throat than out.

yes, my stuffiness and sore throat is REAL bad on the right side... the left doesnt feel good but its not bothering me liek the other....i didnt sleep a wink last night becuase the throat was SO bad, its not a scratchy pain it was a pain pain ( like a viral sore throat, if u know what thats like). I finally doped up on some sudafed and tylenol and i feel a little bit better but not much. Tell me if u think im wrong, but could the Levaquin (antibiotic) be doing its job and the inflammation in my sinus tissues is going down and allowing all the drainage to come out (green drainage has been NONSTOP all day) which in return is causing my throat to be so freakin bad??? thats the only explanation i can think of.... i just took my temp and its 97.6 so im alright thinking on a more serious side like having the flu. Just aggravated because there is nothing worse than having a BAD sore throat, almost intolerable to me. let me know what u think.... by the way, will a humidifier while sleeping help relieve a little of the sore throat at night??? never tried one...
