Hi all, my father has polycystic kidneys and has been on dialisis for 7 years now. Recently he has developed a body rash that the doctors have been unable to pin point the cause. The rash is painful and the only way of aliviating the pain is by showering, pain killers have no effect. The doctor has taken him off one medicine which is full of calcuim as they believe this might be the cause, but as yet the rash has not gone.

Has anyone else here experienced the same.

Many thanks

It could be totally unrelated to his PKD.Has his doc mentioned the possibility of shingles?it really does sound like the classic symptoms.I would check into this possibility a little further.I hope things start looking up for your dad.

Thanks for that but the doctors have ruled out shingles. He has been given a steroid cream used for exzema, which has provided some relief.

Lucky for me PCK did not get passed on to me or my sister. My father has to undergo dialysis three times a week and because of his B+ blood group has little chance of a donor kidney.

Good luck with your problems and thanks for the pointer.

Just as an update the steriod cream has proved ineffective.

More ideas needed.
