i believe that it means that:
1: there are bony changes to your right condyle, which is part of the mandible - the lower jaw - which fits into the maxilla. the condyle and maxilla [well, the fossa] are separated by the disc. anyway, the "asymmetric degenerative changes" seems to refer to osteophyte formation on the condyle, which is the result of bone on bone rubbing. an osteophyte is a bony formation that can be 'peaked', or your condyle could be flattened also due to bone on bone rubbing

2: there is some restriction of movement when you open, so the disc could be displaced - 'stuck' - during opening, or.....

however, i am not a doctor, so please get your doctor/radiologist/dentist to explain it to you. :)

take care,

- saaraah.

How did it go for you? Was your doctor able to explain it any further?

Thank you for your concern, well it went better than I expected Thank God. My Doctor said the Radiologist was wrong about the Marrow Edema which was wonderful news he said that's what scared him because that would mean the BONE WAS DYING (WHEW)
however I have a lot of Fluid that has built up that is the squishy noise behind my eye AND THIS IS VERY PAINFUL. He started me on Steroids but thinks we will have to do a procedure to Irrigate it they will put me to sleep for this
I have a phone appointment with my Doctor on Friday due to the fact its a 6 hour drive
if it's not better we will set the date for the procedure.
He once again reminded me that for me this will be an on going deal i have arthritis pretty bad in my jaw :( He was very Nice and really listened to me this time ) The fluid was VERY noticeable on the MRI X-RAYS (Lots of BIG white Spots)

Thank you again for asking it does seem to help me sometimes to talk about it. The fact that i will be dealing with this the rest of my life is scary and hard to swallow sometimes especially being only 32 with 3 young kids it's Not fair to them either

I WISH AND PRAY FOR US ALL TO BE PAIN free from this AWFUL TMJ someday

Thank you again for listening
