I don't know if anyone heard of this story but it really gives you hope.

Joslin Diabetes Center is honoring two brothers who have both lived with diabetes for more than seven decades. Both are type 1 diabetics. Robert Cleveland has lived with it for 78 years and Gerald Cleveland has lived with it for 72.

They both developed diabetes shortly after insulin was discovered. Neither one have any complications due to tight control. They have given a 50 year medal to 2,200 people meaning they have lived with diabetes for at least 50 years. 15 people have been awarded the 75 year victory award.

How amazing is that!!

Awesome! My mom has had diabetes for 30 yrs and doing fine. Of course she has tight control also. She is my role model. I wish i could be more like her. She will be 80 yrs old In Jan. 2005 and is still working 5 hrs daily.

I guess we have something to be hopeful for. That was a great post, Mindy.

Hi Mindy,

That is so neat! Thanks for posting that story. It's nice to see you around. I haven't seen you a lot lately. I hope everything's okay with you and your family.

Sharon :)
