I have a question about my husband. For the past 3 years he has had VERY swollen legs. They are almost double in size. He had some tests done to check out his heart and circulation. All the drs can tell him is what is NOT wrong. At this time he has totally stopped looking for an answer. He is trying to lose some weight (which he needs to do) and is trying to get some moderate exercise. We don't know what happened to make them so swollen, they just became that way one day.
Any ideas about treatment or cause?
Thanks for any input.

Fluid retention can be caused by many things.

Bloodpressure medications can cause swelling of legs.

I had a doctor tell me years ago that "fat" soaks up fluids like a sponge and I needed to lose weight.

I would see another doctor for second opinion, because, legs do not swell for no reason.

Probably fluid retention. Can be caused my medication, excesive sodium intake along with heart and/or kidney problems. The heart pumps 1/3 of it's output through the kidneys where fluid from the blood is removed (blood circulation within ours cells absorb excess fluid), and sent to the bladder. He should reduce his salt intake, have his kidneys and heart checked again. How is his BP? He can also try elevating his legs to encourage fluid removal from letting the possibly pooling blood (in his legs) drain back to his heart.

It's amazing what getting in shape cures. Encourage him losing weight and to continue exercising.
