View Full Version : Numbness And Shooting Pain In Big Toe - Why?!

My big toe is numb and I keep getting shooting pains in it. Also if I touch the top of my foot where there are veins and ligaments leading to the big toe it kind of has a twitchy feeling. Any ideas of what this could be? I have no back problems, diabetes, MS or any other disease or symptoms.

I have shooting pain from the joint that connects to the foot up through the big toe, mostly on the right but sometimes the left. I hope somebody can point to a few things because this is really painful. It occurs more often then not after my shoes are off and I am at rest.

I hope I'm not stealing your thunder Pauline38, but what you said fit me too!

It could be coming from nerve compression in your tarsal tunnel.

Do you think you could expand on your answer. How does it occur, what exactly is it, what can be done about it. I really don't know much if anything at all about medical things.
