Hi,

I just recently started using this instead of Lantus, and have a couple questions. Since starting the Novalog, I feel so bloated and full all the time. Does this have anything to do with Insulin? I didn't feel this way with Lantus but of course Lantus didn't lower my numbers enough
Currently taking 15 units Novalog 70/30 in the AM and 10 units in PM. Feeling like a hogger!!

I personally disagree with the 70/30 regimen. 70/30 basically means that the makeup is 70% long lasting insulin and 30% short acting. The problem comes when the short acting works quickly and starts lowering your blood sugar. There is also worry that the long lasting insulin in 70/30 doesnt take you through the entire 24 hours. High blood sugars can lead to stomach upset and a bloated feeling.

You never mentioned your level of control on the 70/30 so it would be hard to know if your control had anything to do with how you are feeling. There are plenty of insulins out there besides 70/30 to use for long lasting control. If you start having lows, I would switch. Good luck

Mindy,

My levels have gone from 200+ on Lantus down to 100-150 for the most part. I have never experienced a low yet. I do feel a lot better in general except the bloating feeling. Just wondering if it could be the new Insulin.

Well, your numbers are going to tell you more than anything. That is wonderful that they have come down like they have. 70/30 didnt work for me at all because my schedule didn't allow me to always do the math with that 30%. I am glad to hear that it's working for you.

As for the bloating, are you eating different foods trying to keep things low carb? I know when I change my diet trying to eat more veggies and less starches, it takes a bit for my system to adjust.. I don't think the insulin itself would cause bloating
