I have been on the depo provera shot for the past 9 months. I have had major hair loss, loss of sex drive, and heavy depression for no reason. After doing some research, I realized that these are all side effects of the shot. I called my doctor to switch birth control and she wants to prescribe Yasmin for me. After doing some research on yasmin, I am a bit uneasy about starting it. Can anyone give me any input on the effects Yasmin has had on their libido, depression, and hair loss? I am supposed to start taking the pills in about a month and want to get as much info before starting. Thanks!

It stopped the hairloss I was having on a different pill. My main complaint was nausea. Which was a shame because other than that I liked it. Clear skin and no weight gain.

Oh and I had bad mood swings for the first week or two I was on it but that went away.

I have been on it for 2 months and I have no weight gain, depression or mood swings like everyone says . I think people use the pill as an excuse for gaining weight and feeling depressed.

I think that if you will look at the clinical information included in birth control pills that weight gain, mood swings, and depression all occur at a greater rate in those on the pill vs those on placebo. I don't think those things happen because people use the pill as an "excuse" to put weight on, be nasty, and sad. Think about it, what woman do you know wants to have those things happen to them? I'm glad you're having such a good response to your new pill though! Hope it continues that way for you!

I've been taking Yasmin for 2 mos. tried other pills, terrible experiences........ I had lots of breakthrough bleeding and terrible nausea with other pills, this one no problems...... and my doctor said it has some characteristics of a water pill in it, so no weight gain here.
