Hi!
I'm new and am 2.5 weeks post op from a nasty bunionectomy. I think my incisions are infected but i don't know what I'm looking for. Is it normal for them to be bleeding this long??? just a little ooozy and possibly some puss.
i can't tell if I should bother my doc with this because I have an appt with him Monday (and every monday for the next 6 weeks.) I have 3 incisions, and I can see part of 2 of them seeping through my bandages. Also, For any of you who have had both feet done, how long did you wait between them?
Thanks, Kate

I think it would be wise to call your doctor tomorrow, before the weekend! I had a double bunionectomy in January and did not have any problems with bleeding through bandages after the first day or so. I can't help you with any advice on how long to wait before having the other one done, since I had mine done at the same time. Let me know how it goes with your doctor...and good luck!

Hi, I too am 2.5 weeks post op from a Mann/Akins bunionectomy on my left foot. If your incisions are still bleeding at this stage, I would definitely have the doctor check it out. I don't recall any bleeding past the first or second day post op with both my surgeries. I had my first bunionectomy surgery on June 13th (rt foot) and waited 12 weeks to do my left foot. I did not have a good experience with my first surgery and almost backed out from having my left foot done because I experienced a lot swelling that caused pain when I walked. My big toe was also "frozen" and I did 4 weeks of therapy to improve the ROM. I decided to go ahead with my second surgery because I couldn't picture myself being down for 8 weeks next summer. Now, 2.5 weeks post op, I am sooooo glad I took the plunge!!! This time I had very little swelling and my foot looks normal now..I can even move my big toe! Good luck with your recovery and let us know how you are doing.
