Im 46 and I have had hot flashes for about the last 3 months ,,I was wondering if anyone had this problem with headaches?
Is this part of my menopause?
I take excederine and nothing happens .
Anyone out there with debilatiting headaches?
What do you do ? The hot flashes are minimized because my head feels like its going to explode

Kelly...
I get really bad headaches also that medicine doesn't help. Mine feel like a horrible sinus headache/migraine...I know they're hormone related somehow because they are always during my period or when I ovulate and I never have them any other time. They are the worst things!!! I wish I had something to tell you that works, but I haven't really found anything. Even when my sinuses act up medicine will help alleviate the symptoms, but not with one of these headaches. Its like I just have to wait for whatever my hormones are doing inside before they go away.
I don't really have a typical "hot flash"...mine are more ears burning and red, sometimes my cheeks get hot (flaming feeling) but never any upper torso, full body flashes. The worst mine have been is just facial, sometimes neck and they don't usually last too long.
I hope some of the other ladies have something to suggest for these headaches too!!
Have a good weekend,
Conni :)

I am having headaches too. I never got headaches until I started menopause. So this is another sympton that I can add to my list. When I get these heacaches, I don't have hot flashes as much. I tried tylenol and that didn't help. When I get these headaches, I try to lay down or sit still and drink a cup of hot herbal tea for relaxation. This helps me. I hope that this will work for you too. Good luck.
Right now I am having a headache, so I am going to fix me a cup of tea. :)

I have been feeling fine for months. However, just the past week, I noticed I am having these strange headaches again - very slight feeling like a band around my head...not a pounding pain or anything. I am thinking it might be allergy related or I'm having a relapse of some kind! (oh, no!). I feel better when laying down. It is nothing in comparison to what I had last year tho when I was experiencing a lot of symptoms and going thru the worst time of my life. At that time, the headaches or pressure around my head were bad...they lasted for a good 4 months and were around the clock. I tried all the OTC pain killers and none of them worked. My dr. even told me to take up to 9 Advils (3 pills/3X a day). It didn't really help either. It just seem to have ran its course and each day I started to notice it was less and less...to the point my head started to feel clear too - (maybe it was fuzzy brain too).
Laying down, using cold compresses might help a bit. Evening Primrose is suppose to help with headaches, which I have been taking daily too.
Oh, I used to have sinus headaches 2-3 days before my periods too - I took 2 Motrin Sinus plus an Aleve and it helped.

I am 39 y/o and have been going through peri-menopause for about 2 years now. Tried all types of headache remedies. The best prescribed medication that has worked for me is Axert 12.5 mg. No side effects, just relief. I get at least 3-4 migraines a week! I recently started taking an all natural product called Brevail. You can find info about it on their website...www.brevail.com. My headaches seemed to have lessen, I have more energy and the best part of all is my appetite has decreased! :D I read about Brevail in a health magazine and then went on line to check it out. It cost about $20 for a one month supply. Good luck!
