Everyday seems to be something new. Today, my 3 year old suddenly refuses to put clothes on. I tried everything I could think of, even bribery.
I would wrestle to get his clothes on and he would take them off as soon as I finished. We never made it out of the house today. Anyone have any ideas?

Could it be that some of the clothes are causing him pain? Have you tried letting him pick out something to wear?

Yes, I tried to get him to pick clothes but he refused. This morning, I wrestled him into overalls and he screamed like he was in agony. He'd scream for a few minutes, get involved with the tv, then start to pull at them again. I finally said to him do you want the overalls or the sweatpants (that he had taken off 3 times already) and he pointed to the sweatpants. He wasn't overly cooperative about putting them on, but at least we managed to get out of the house. It took so long, I'm going to be late to work by hours!!!!

We have been going through the same problem off and on for a year and a half. Has anything changed in his life, when there is a change in our lives the clothes come offf !! it then takes weeks of fighting to get him dressed and back on track....I use a certain laundry soap that works great.

My son does the same thing after trying every thing I could. I finally sewed buttons on shirts and buttons holes on pants. I'm still working on the shoe problem.

Thanks for all of your posts. I think it's a seasonal change problem. He was always willing to put on summer clothes, but the problem came with the long pants. After fighting for some time, he is now putting on long pants (has to be loose with elastic waist) on without too much trouble but absolutely refuses to wear long sleeved shirts. I got him out of the house with him screaming about the shirt the other day and he stripped off his jacket and shirt in the car. I guess he'll give in eventually if I'm consistent.
