Hi all. I posted basically the same question on the Fibromyalgia Board but felt I should post here too. I want to do Yoga (no classes) for the Fibro, but my back is a mess, herniated, tears, stenosis, bursitis in my hip, yada yada, you all know how it is. I was wondering if anyone has a specific favorite Yoga video that works for them without tormenting your back. I tried Rodney Yee, but his routines are way to intense. I want something simple, stretching and relaxing that won't cripple me. As you all can probably relate, twisting, bending, getting on the floor and back up again are a little tricky with back pain.
So, any input would be appreciated.
Talk to me my fellow "busted backs"! LOL
Love to all,
tk

I don't have any videos to recommend but I have done a lot of yoga over the years - even before my back problem began. Hatha yoga is probably the gentlest form so look out for that.
Be very careful though- I wouldn't even consider doing any yoga postures except the basic relaxation ones at the moment. I would highly recommend finding a good instructor even for a couple of sessions - just to make sure you are on the right track.
In fact I think I may have injured my back in the first place doing ashtanga yoga. If you are looking at building up muscle strength, particularly the abdominals, pilates is really good.

I just ordered "Introduction to Hatha Yoga" and "Living Yoga-Back Care Yoga for Beginners". So, I'll give 'em a try. Thanks for your reply.

Hi. I found the Yoga Backcare for Beginners to STILL be too strenuous. I agree and suggest you find a good hatha yoga instructor who can work with you on your back or see if there is a local yoga place that is reputable and offers a back care class. One by me does and they modify the class to suit the students' limitations.
Good luck! I've found that trying things on my own often causes more harm than good.
