In the title I just wanted to jog your memories on who I was, I'm by no means trying to brag, I'm just so new to posting on this board. I am now two days post-op and I wanted to say thank you for all of you who were praying and thinking good thoughts for me. They have really paid off. I was on my feet without pain in my back, taking 2.5-3foot strides, which made me go to tears! I haven't been able to walk like that for so long. I was completely able to get up and around 3 hours after my surgery. My doc is making me wear a Medicos, flexible brace on my lower back until my follow up in about 10 days. I am supposed to sit up straight for no more than 20-30 minutes, but I am supposed to do this to help "anchor" the Charite ADR into my vertebrae. You will have to forgive me for not starting a new paragraph but my keyboard is acting up? For those of you concerned about the abdominal entrance, I too, was very daunted by this, but it makes sense when you think about removing the DDD'd disc. For me there was a seperate surgeon who specialized in this type of incision (to get to the dorsal side of the body). So I felt confident that she was going to be well skilled at this. (New paragraph) From just being around the doctor's and the NBC news crew etc, I have been hearing that the Charite may be approved in as little as a few weeks! How awesome would that be, but I am not making any claims as I do not know for sure. I also wanted to add, that this surgery so far has worn on my body less than my prior lami/disc at the same place (L5-S1). I was actually discharged 10 hours earlier on Saturday than I was for my lami/disc on July 2nd. Sincerely, Sherry

i am so happy for you! i too would like to know when it airs. i am trying to avoid fusion, since i have been told that it prevents you from being able to do the adr. i am desperately trying to hold out with this pain until the adr is off and running. please remind yourself daily to take it easy even for some time after you heal. of all the posts i have read, this seems to always make the difference. let us know how you are doing!

Sherry, I'm really glad that you are up and running(only kidding about the running) . This is very encouraging because I am going in later this month for a 2 level prodisc. I can't wait until the 1 level charite is approved because that will set the pace for the other ,prodisc. I hope also that the ins. companys will jump on. Were you able to get the ins. co. to help out on the payment. Anyway too many questions for you being that you are less than one week post op. Keep us informed.

Wow, Sherry! So glad you're doing so well after surgery! You were only in the hospital one night? That's amazing! I am wandering why my dr. said I would have to be in 5 or 6 days for the ADR. I can't wait until after my myelogram (25th) so I can have the surgery.

God bless you in your recovery and thanks for sharing!

Gail :)

Sherry, I'm so glad you are doing well. I was supposed to have the disc replacement on aug 19, but on the day before my surgery my doc tells me they couldnt get the fda approval so i went ahead with the fusion l5-s1.
I am now 7 weeks post op and in extreme pain. I HOPE ANYONE THAT HAS THE CHANCE TO HAVE TOTAL DISC REPLACEMENT INSTEAD OF FUSION WILL TAKE IT!!! ~ ~Prayers for a speedy recovery~ debbie

Debbie,
Why are you in so much pain, do they know?
I hate hearing these kind of stories since I will be having an L4 L5 fusion in two weeks I don't have a choice due to my previous fusion, I need this and the ADR isn't really an option. I hope that you get better soon and don't have to go through any more pain!
Seven weeks isn't really that long, have you gotton better at all?
