injured betty

This is not new, but it is not common, either. I found it to be fascinating and wondered if anyone here had had it done. From what I read, it is like when the dentists does your teeth and you can watch it on the big 52" screen. They are now doing back surgery where they use a microscope to quide them and it is on the big screen. (I wonder if you can get a copy when they are done?) It was stated in the medical article that I read that it makes it much easier for the surgeon to know what size screws to use, where to place things, and it enables them to see more than they would normally see.
I also read that some surgeries are being performed with just Versad and Demerol and no general anesthesia, which allows the patient to watch the process.
Anyone out there had this procedure yet?
Does insurance pay for it?
Seems to me that it would be a great tool to watch and to have should they mess up your surgery and by using it, it would hold the surgeons more accountable.
