Hi Everyone,
I went to my tmj specialist this past weekend and got my new daytime splint. Last time I visited him he thickened my other splint to get the ball rolling (so to speak) a little faster than before. Now, I have a daytime splint that is very slim, and has nothing in the front but a bar connecting 2 pieces on the sides. It's MUCH smaller than my other one...
Has anyone seen or know what type of splint this is?
I'm also having a really hard time going from the nighttime to the day - my joints feel very tense. Moreso than normal. I'm sure I need to give it time, but I'm not used to this, right?
Also - I took ativan for 2 weeks at night to relax myself and honestly, I think it ended up giving me anxiety attacks when i went off of it. Has anyone had this problem??
I'm really doing okay pain wise. It's the normal daily ache and little stabs but I'm hoping it will subside with this new splint...
Anyways, thanks for all your support thus far! It's really amazing.. :)
Take Care,
Andy

Andy,
It's hard to guess which type of splint you have, as I'm sure there are hundreds of different types/styles out there.
If your joints continue to feel tense, I'd suggest contacting your specialist about this.
As for the Ativan, it sounds like you have been experiencing withdrawal symptoms from getting off of it. Most of these drugs can be very addicting......even after only a few weeks' use.
Good luck with your new splint and let us know how things go for you!
