BettyBetty,
My dr who is an Endocrinologist/GYN prescribed Natural Progesterone Cream made by a compounding pharmacist in our area. Do you have a doc that might consider that route? It has worked very well for me. My first blood work for a progesterone level check show it to be 1!! I was really low on progesterone.

The one I bought was recommended by the clerk saying that the creams that have Mexican wild yam root in them are most effective.
I just started on it a few days ago, so I don't know at this point how it's working yet.

As long as it contains 480 mg. of Progesterone per ounce any brand is okay. I use Puritan's Pride. I have been using it for over a year. I apply 1/4 teasp. morning and 1/4 teaspoon at night........It works for me.....I feel great. My progesterone was really low and now i feel more in balance. .bride527

Thank you all for your responses. As long as it has 480mg. progesterone it will work.
I have another question. This is embarrassing. :o Does it increase your libido?
I really have problems with that area. Of course I am postemenopause. You might say my sexual organs are a little dried up LOL :D

I tried the compound cream but I really didn't find it did anything. I am about to switch to the HRT for a year.

The natural progesterone I have been using does not list the grams on it, so how do I find out how much is 480grams? I went to the health food store today and looked at oher brands, they also do not list the grams.

The brand I use, Puritans Pride says 480 grams right on the jar. But i am sure you can find other brands that list that......
I have never heard of progesterone cream causing cancer. Where did you hear that?...bride527

Thank you for all your good help. I have to stay away from prescription hrt since my mother died of breast cancer in 1986. I think she took those very strong birth control pills they had back then. Heard on the news that women who took those pills, some of them developed breast cancer later in life.
That was on the news some time ago.
