Can someone please give me advice on what natural suppliments I should take. I get so confused as there seems to be so many. I had started to take Remifemin as my gyno had suggested it. I called the 800 # as I wanted to know if I could drink soy milk with it. They said they couldn't answer that as no tests had been done on it with their product. During the conversation I told her that I don't get "hot flashes" and that my main symptoms were depression, anxiety, and cronic fatigue. So she told me that Remifemin probably wouldn't help me with those symptoms.
I know that I am going through menopause as I am 54 and my periods suddenly stopped in March. I am taking Lexapro and Ativan and I also take synthoid. I really would apprreciate any input you could offer as I know I need more than an antidepressant for my menopause. I should add that I do not want to take anything else prescription and that I would like something natural that's not only aimed at "hot flashes"
Thankyou.

Hello Baby Boomer

I am also 54 and have thyroid disease and am on Synthroid. One thing you must remember, soy is a no no for TD folks. I do not take any other meds for the menopause. Maybe you can check our great Thyroid board here on Health boards regarding natural products. I only say this due to the fact you are on synthroid for thyroid disease.

Thanks for the reply....I never knew that I should avoid soy for T.D.. Why is that? I had been drinking it up until recently.

Hi well go over to the thyroid Board and put in the search for SOY it is not good as (I think) it interferes with the absorption of the TD meds... I stopped taking soy products months ago, and feel better (not a ton better, we all seem to be having many ups and downs)

But one of the main things talked about is avoiding soy. I used to enjoy Tofu (not a vegetarian, but just enjoyed it) so now I do not have it. I think you should find out what you can regarding your thyroid stuff, as lots of the symptoms of menopause run hand in hand with hypothyroid.

Check it out please.
