I have friends with PCOS and they all do best when they watch their carbs as insulin resistance and PCOS go hand in hand. One of them swears by a diet plan created by an Endocrinologist named Diana Schwazbein, called The Schwarzbein Principle - you can probably get a copy of it from the library it's been out a few years. They find that by keeping their blood sugar stabilized they feel better and they are able to lose weight - this is a common diet for PCOS sufferers because they have a much higher chance of also developing Type II diabetes.

Dump the refined carbs - white bread, white rice, anything boxed or pre packaged and focus on whole grains and complex carbs. Sugar is your enemy when your hormones are out of whack, as yours are.

Also, try eating more frequent smaller meals - this helps women lose fat better and it also keeps your blood sugar levels stabilized (and hence your insulin levels).

I believe there is a PCOS board here, you might get more help from the members who post there as well.
