Hi all,
My SD, had her pediactrician appointment this morning (she was diagnosed 3 months ago with mild autism) the doc was really pleased with her progress, and she hasnt even started any therapy as yet. he said she was very bright, and progressing nicely. he even commented that she may even move off the ASD scale in the future. :bouncing:
WOW!, I cant beleive it. we have just been giving her loads of praise when she tries to talk, and discipline her tantrums. We have removed her "obsessive" toys and only give her a few toys to play with at any one time (we change her toys in he room every couple of weeks)
We were about to embark on the son-rise program until I started researching into it and realised it is a money making scam. Even our pediatrician said it was an extortionate amount of money to spend without any proven and endorsed results.

What wonderful news you received!! If you don't mind I have a few questions for you.
At what age was your daughter diagnosed with autism? What led to your daughter being diagnosed? I am not sure if that last question makes sense. What were your warning signs?
My son is not diagnosed yet but, I am suspecting autism with him. I am just trying to gather some information.

We are just playing with her on her level. if she wants to draw, then we draw with her. we do the picture books, pointing and naming an object just a bit at a time. We have her in a strict routine, bath & bed at the sime time every night. we have banned sweets too.
She was diagnosed at 2 years 4 months, it started cos of speech delay. She still has issues with her attention and I think we are going to send her private.
Do a search for DSM iV on the net & fill out the form, that should give you an indication if your child is autistic.
