Back in 1998, when I was in England, I became seriously ill from Hepatitis. The type was never diagnosed properly, and it was only diagnosed by a homeoepath as a liver condition.

The year before my grandfather had died, and I had began neglecting my health and drinking too much - as well as eating barely anything. (My health gradually deteriorated.)

When the illness struck it totally debilitated me - I was chronically sick for four months...and, by this, I mean that I felt near death for this whole period. I went into a deep depression during this phase, and even now - fifteen years on - I am still not out of this depression. I am asuming that this illness has left an imbalance in my body which was never corrected.

Two years back I tried Prozac for three months - under the advice of my wife - but all it did was make me nervous, sick and suicidal.

I am wondering what the best approach is to tackle this depression - antidepressents or some other form of treatment. After fifteen years of trying to get back to optimum health, it is going to be very difficult to eradicate the depression, I assume.

I have started using B12 under the advice of a friend - and it seems to be helping a little. It has cleared my head enough to make me realise that my ill health for the past fourteen years has been depression-based.

I intend visiting the doctor in a few months for advice on this problem. (I have only been working in the US for six months, and December is when my health insurance becomes active.)

About a year back I had my liver checked out locally, and it came back fine...so I have no liver damage, but I do have a continuing problem that is making me muggy-headed, weak and depressed - which are all part of the same condition, really.
