I hear and read a lot about the great benefits of green tea. Does it matter if it's caffeinated or decaffeinated? Thanks.

You're better off buying it from an Asian/Chinese grocery store. I've never heard of caf or de-caf green tea, but we only buy ours from the local Chinese grocer. We do have different types such as short leaved or long leaved. We prefer the long leave, because it has a better flavor. We just don't trust the ones in the American grocery stores, especially the brand name ones. The Japanese green tea is the best tasting, but it is also the hardest to get.

both Cafinated and decaf will have the anti-oxidants that make it so powerful and beneficial, however, if you're looking for the metabolic boost that it offers you should go with cafinated, as it would take twice the amount of the decaf to get this effect (and you need to drink between 4 and 7 cups a day to get the boost from the cafinated variety).

A note of caution: If you are worried about fluoride levels, or if you are on medication for thyroid disease then you should not drink green tea, or ANY tea.

it's definately cheaper at the oriental supermarkets than anywhere else. how many cups of green tea should one drink daily? I always hear of people having it more than once.

Gopher, i have thyroid problems (was graves disease, but now hypo) and my dieticain never told me not to drink green tea. What is it about flouride that's bad for the thyroid? Just wondering.
