What is the difference between the lower end ceramic flat irons by, for instance, Revlon, and the higher end flat irons by Solano, Hai, etc.? Is it that the more expensive flat irons perform better and are built with higher quality materials that will enable them to last longer?

I'm trying to decide whether to spend my money on a Revlon ceramic flat iron or on a more expensive brand. I want an iron that will last a long time, and I just wonder if a $29 iron will break down too easily. Is the Solano, Hai, etc. worth the hundred or so bucks?

Any suggestions?

Hey!! I really think it depends on your hair! I got my hair cut the other day and they used the chi iron and it was fantastic, but I have short hair and can't justify buying it. I think if you have curly hair or long hair it is definitly worth the price!!

Both my daughter and I have tried the less expensive ceramic irons and were not at all happy with. We (I lol) ended up buying a Superstar flat ceramic iron... which is a miracle worker. Slide it once thru your hair and your hair is straight. Frizz is gone. And it seems to repel humidity for a while too. The cheaper irons had to be run thru your hair numerous times to achieve the same result, and even then, it wasn't as good.

JMHO! ;)

I never trust hair products from a store. I got my ceramic flat iron from my school for only $50. It was the cheapest one and it goes up to 400 degrees, I love it. I used to use the brass flat irons by Hot Tools. The ceramic ones cost around $100 in normal solons, check around at beauty schools in your area and they should sell them.
