Hi folks,

Been reading the boards off and on for a while and found much solace in doing that. Takes away anxiety when you realise others are suffering as you are. I'm 51 next week. Last 7 mths periods have changed with spotting a few days before it hits, followed by 2 days of "I'm scared to move," especially when standing up after sitting down for a while! Then eases off to very manageable. Have had low blood counts which have added to feeling off colour. Last period no spotting, straight into bleeding, 2 days of much easier to cope than normal, and all gone in 5 days. Now this time, I am 2 weeks overdue tomorrow, and having almost nonexistent spotting last 3 days. Suddenly today some sharpish (not severe) pains shooting into my vagina. What fun! Could possibly be to do with antibiotics I am taking for an infected throat.

I digress, lol I"m menopausal and we're allowed to do that! Giving you my background.

My query is: -

A few weeks ago suddenly had this funny feeling as what I would call a head rush. No feeling of hot or cold, no pain, just a sudden whoosh right through my head. Lasts only a few seonds but leaves me going 'What the heck was that?" Happened twice since, including this afternoon. No warning, just suddenly woosh, like a large wave pasing through my head and out the top. Leaves me feeling a little lightheaded for a few seconds.

Wondered if it sounds similar to what anyone else experiences.

Just want you to know you are not alone. I really don't have an explanation for it and haven't yet been to the doctor, but I am having a very similar symptom. My periods too have also recently changed (going from extremely irregular to every month like clockwork) and I have had a very other symptoms like irritability, etc. I think I may be in peri-meno (I'm 45). One night it was so bad I ran to my dh and cried out, "I feel like I'm going to pass out". It scared me because it had never happened before. For me too it only lasts a few seconds. After reading this board it seems like that lightheaded, woozy, dizzy, etc. feeling is pretty common both in peri and regular menopause. Sorry I couldn't really help, just wanted you to know that you aren't alone.

Thanks a million Nancy, and you're right it's so good to know we're not alone. Apart from the unpleasant effects of a very low blood count last Christmas, I've been doing pretty well. Take effamarine (which has evening primrose oil), garlic and magenisum, also have soy milk on my cereal, and I'm sure these all help me keep things under control. But these funny head rushes caught me unawares, and the feeling I'm not in control of my head at times is something I could live without!

Adds to life, and at least menopause gives us a reason to be eccentric! Like a baby with teething.

Still no sign of my period, but the other side of all this is going to be fantastic. I make myself believe that 100%. Has to be an upside to what so many of you/us go through.

Thanks

Jude

I don't have an answer for you but this funny feeling in your head happens to me also. Like you say its like a wave passing through your head. When it used to happen to me first I would get so frightened but I am more used to it now. I get the lightheaded feeling with it also. Today, I have a funny head as well (but not with the wave-like sensation) it's more a fuzzy head and I feel tired and weak with it. I hate when this happens. Does that ever happen to you? BTW I am 46 yrs. My period is over a week late - the last few months have been regular but last year several times it came either very close or sometimes very late - just can't rely on dates any more!!

All we can do is hang in there! At least we are not alone in this and these boards keep us all sane!

Maggie
