Please people, think carefully before you have Lasik. It is not always successful, and sometimes, as for me it is a downright disaster

I had Lasik 2 years ago, and am no in very thick bi-focal lenses. Previously I needed just a think lense
*sometimes*

It took 18 frightening months for my vision to settle, during which time I was needed new prescriptions about every six weeks. Expensive! Scary! No-one could tell me what vision I would be left with,.

I had to give up my job, I still can't drive at night and probably never will

I now have 'higher order abberations' which can not be corrected by Lasik or any other means. My vision is permanently damaged. My quality of life is diminished.

It has been a depressing, regretable experience.

Did you go to a good surgeon? I am not trying to be rude or anything...I was just wondering if this happens even with the very experienced surgeons.

I had LASIK 4 years ago with the chief of Ophthalmology at the hospital. He was also my boss. [ removed ] Besides the usual side effects--blurred night vision, light sensitivity, and occasional headaches (which came on after surgery) my vision is great. I have seen results ranging from superb, to horrific. It is not always the Dr. (but can be, too), but your own body. Healing times vary as well as your body's response to healing. Surgery can go great, and healing as well --3 months later the patient can be back with the same visual acuity as before the surgery. All depends.

I'm curious as to what type of pre-op tests did you have? My pre-op appointment took over an hour. It included several different tests to determine if I was a good candidate...and I was. I had LASIK last week and love it!! I'm still healing, but my vision is 20/20.
