I wish we would get some more people interested in this subject. Anyway, I just want to let those reading know that there is virtually no aspect of my life that healthy living has not helped. :) I have asthma, allergies, PMS, and an occasional bout of depression. Learning what foods agree and disagree with me has helped me tremendously. If I stay the course on eating right (smaller meals especially) and exercising and taking my vitamin supplements, I feel like a million dollars! I just got a clean bill of health from my doctor (I'm 47 and female) and aside from losing my weight, I don't really have any urgent issues. The only prescription medicine I take is Advair for my asthma twice a day. It has kept me well for over a year. I hope and pray that is all the medicine I will have to be on for a LONG time. And I think eating right, exercising, and taking antioxidants should go a long way in doing that!! GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Proudmom, do you drink plenty of water? The reason I ask is that I read a a book called Your Body's Many Cries For Water, by a Dr. Batmangelij, and he says asthma can be helped by drinking lots of water...

Proudmom, what kind of foods do you eat? I know I should eat more fruits and vegetables. And I love those foods. But I only go to town for food about once every other week, so I end up buying lots of canned things for the week that I don't go. I don't have a freezer that will hold much. I have bought some grains, and want to make my own breads. I do cook from scratch alot. But what is really healthy?
I am 53 and have found my health has just gotton horrible in the last few months. I used to do all kinds of physical stuff (gardening, walking, biking, hiking, and have horses too, but nothing over done) and all of a sudden I can hardly walk up the stairs due to pain in my knees. So I want to change my eating habits and whatever else I can do to improve my health. I can't go to a medical doctor (no insurance and not much money).
Thanks for any info.
