KingofTheThing 10-09-2004, 02:36 PM kkkkkkkfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff Sponsor KingofTheThing 10-10-2004, 03:10 AM just wanted to be clear that this was not a virtual colonoscopy, it was a standard abdominal CT scan and i drank 2 large containers of barium, it was not an enema. i am still going to the gastro, but im more and more scared everyday, from what i have read this really looks like cancer. another question, my bowel movements seemed to not be as thin or watery just a few weeks ago...is it possible a tumor could have grown fast enough and began to cause diareah/ this stool in only a few weeks/ amonth's time???? could all the stress and anxiety i have been having obssesing over this be actually causing me to have symptoms like the thin stool??? lastly, can IBS just hit you out of the blue one day?? start with pain and progress to interfering with bowel movements? jaydees 10-11-2004, 01:12 PM You are young for rectal cancer, although that does not rule it out , you have no family history either which again reduces the chances that you have cancer and finally you have had a CT scan that does not show anything bad. Taken together they clear you of cancer about as much as can be done. Only a colonoscopy would further clear you. The gastroenterologist will advise you on having one. I would think that diverticulitus would be detected by a CT scan but I don't know about Crohn's or IBS. In my own , non-medical opinion I think you don't have cancer. KingofTheThing 10-12-2004, 06:12 PM well i sure hope its not cancer, considering i have to wait 2 more friggin weeks to get into a gastro..... then im sure ill be having a colonoscpoy... cant wait :( id like to put the whole cancer idea out of my head, but i dont want tell myslef it defienently isnt and be suprised at the colonoscopy KingofTheThing 10-12-2004, 07:25 PM hmm i think there is blood in my movements again KingofTheThing 10-12-2004, 08:59 PM my question to anyone who has an answer is, would a ct scan without a doubt see and active cancer??? i know it could miss polyps and such, but actual cancer would show up, right? positive4u 10-13-2004, 12:56 AM Sorry to be so blunt, but not necessarily. Positive4U :) KingofTheThing 10-13-2004, 01:12 AM GAY! im only 23, it better not be cancer....i feel like living till at least 30 CancerDad 10-13-2004, 02:30 PM King, Relax. I know easier said than done. But, you had a gastrographic study with barium and CT... That should have showed something if something were there. I'm with JD, in my non-medical opinion, I don't think it's cancer either. You have already taken it a step beyond a colonoscopy. Most dont have a CT until after the colonoscopy. Now the study only goes to your large intestine, so this doesn't rule out stomach or duodenal ulcers. They can bleed bright blood in the stool in some people, which you could be exacerbating right now with all your worry. So try to chill man until you get the all clear, but in my eye, you essentially have it. Start concetrating on ulcers. Hang in there. Regards, CancerDad KingofTheThing 10-13-2004, 08:54 PM yeah maybe i should stop the cancer worries...but the pain in my lower side still exists... and its like a ver numb / sometimes burning pain now... i wish i just knew what it was instead of waitng 2 weeks to see my specialist |
