just tried two new ones - garnier and no 7, and they both suck - totally useless at removing waterproof mascara, and not much better at non-waterproof. can anyone recommend a good eye makeup remover??

Vaseline on a cotton ball!

I always wear waterproof mascara, too. For years I used baby oil on a cotton ball, which worked but I felt gross and greasy. Now I use Signature Club A meltdown creams. They come in a jar, in lots of different scents and they look like lotions. You rub some all over your face, over all of your makeup. Count to 10. Wipe off with a dry tissue. Every bit of makeup...even waterproof mascara...comes right off. It's gentle, and doesn't burn your eyes a bit. Your skin feels clean, soft, and not dry and tight. You can buy these meltdowns on the home shopping channel, but lately I've been finding them a lot cheaper on ebay! Good luck!

Working in the cosmetic industry I learned that too much use of waterproof mascara can cause lashes to break and be brittle. Estee Lauder has a real good mascara called More Than Mascara and Lancome has an excellent eye makeup remover. It works really well with waterproof formulas. If you need to use waterproof mascara try just applying it to your bottom lashes and using regular mascara for the top.-Roni
I forgot to add Lancome's remover is great for ppl with extremely sensitive eyes.

I love Lancome Bi-Facil - have used it for years and it works with waterproof mascara really well.

a tad bit of pure jojoba oil on a square cotton pad will do the trick.. it feels lightly greasy in beginning, yet it dissipates and is awesome for the night creme i apply afterwards.

I used to use Maybelline Great Lash waterproof mascara and the only thing I found to take it all off was Cover Girl Clean Eyes . I switched to Mary Kay mascara and I think their remover is awesome. I don't know your reasons for waterproof, but I have to wear it because my eyes are sensitive and tear alot, plus I have oily skin and will get little dots all around my eyes where the lashes hit (my lashes are on the long side). Mary Kay says their mascara isn't waterproof , but I haven't had any trouble when my eyes tear or with my oily skin with it.

The only waterproof mascara that stays on for me (due also to watery eyes and allergies) is Covergirl Marathon, and the only remover that will take it off is Covergirl's Clean makeup remover for eyes and lips (same thing moni1 said she used to use). If it can take off Marathon mascara, it will take off anything! and it's only about 3.50. I don't think I've tried the MaryKay, but I'm sure Covergirl is cheaper and you can buy it almost anywhere. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/cool.gif

I really love Avon's Perfect Wear eye makeup remover. It is the one you have to shake before use, like Lancome's Bi-Facil. Safe for lens wearers, too. It feels a bit greasy when wet, but I know it's not oil, I believe it's glycerin. I don't have any kind of makeup it doesn't take off, including Outlast Lipstick. I tried Rimmel eye makeup remover, that supposedly took off everything, even waterproof but without that tiny bit of oil feel. Well guess what- it didn't take the makeup off, either. So I definately can live with the oil feel.

Baby oil on a cotton ball is great for removing waterproof makeup. If it feels too greasy for you, try washing your face after. Another good option is Nivea waterproof makeup remover. It works well and is gentle to the eyes.

I use the Almay kind that comes in a tube---the non-oily one(pink tube). It's hypo-allergenic, works great, and leaves no residue behind; and it's much less expensive than a lot of other brands. You can find it in the drugstore, right by the Almay eye makeup.
