I don't know if you take blood pressure meds, but beta blockers can cause easily bruising. I also drink green tea (3 cups daily). I don't think that can cause bruising.

Hi,
The above don't cause bruising....they cause one to bruise easily.
I was going to comment vitamin E as well. I'll add aspirin intake, very thin skin, low leg muscle tone, fragile capillaries, poor circulation, sitting for long periods of time with pressure on those areas....
I bruise easily as well. I've unfortunately inherited thin skin, low muscle tone and poor circulation. I... do take aspirin, am on a 5ASA med for ulcerative colitis, tend to sit for long periods of time and don't exercise as much as I should. I also carry a heavy bag for my work and realised there's a pattern related to that for some of my bruising.
If you notice it's excessive, you should definitely get your blood clotting factor checked out....as well as check into any meds or vitamins/supplements you're taking. It's true that some foods/vitamins/meds/alcohol do have a blood thinning quality.
Does it tend to run in your family? Have you been doing any work around the house, painting, leaning against something habitually...etc.
I once had a doctor who was more interested in my bruising than my health. He thought I was getting beaten. While that's a legit issue, it didn't apply to me and it didn't help the fact that his bedside manner was the pits.
I hope you're able to get it figured out.

For me, if I'm not getting enough vitamin C I will begin to bruise...I have some sort of hereditary easy bruisability problem, my mother had it and so does my daughter. I used to get worried when she was little because she always had 2 or 3 bruises on her legs and I was afraid the school would think me or her dad gave them to her! Never takes much of a bang or bump for us to bruise, either.
I'm only 40 and if I get a big bruise it usually turns into one of those big ugly old-lady bruises. I also take an herb called horse chestnut along with the vitamin C, it really seems to help strengthen the blood vessels so I don't bruise as easily. Topical arnica gel also helps.
Good Luck!
