My husband is trying to stop smoking. Yesterday was his first day to wear the patch. He only wore the patch for a few hours because he said that it was making him too dizzy. Today he had a strong urge for a cigarette so he smoked only one huff. Now he is extremely nauseated and dizzy. Should this be something to worry about or will it pass?

From my experience, if he is using a patch that is too strong, it might make him feel dizzy and light headed. However, the reason he feels nauseated after having that one puff of the cigarette is because of an overload of nicotene in his system. You really have to be careful with the patches, because they release Nicotine into the blood stream, and having a cigarette adds more to that. It can lead him to the hospital if he doesn't follow the directions!
