Just wondering I read on this board that nutts are a good way to kill hunger. I read on the internet that almonds are the best nutt but they are way to expensive and I can never find a big bag of tthem anywhere.

Anyone have any other recommended nutts?
Please no puns

Almonds are great and you should be able to find them at most grocery stores. I absolutely love cashews, too! I think nuts are one of the best foods for you!!!

Typically nuts are not the best choice to "kill hunger." For most people, a reasonable or recommended portion is not filling or nutritious as a stand-alone snack - for example, 1 ounce is about 170-200 calories and about 80% fat. Its very important to weigh/measure your portions.

Having said that, are nuts good for you? Of course they are - as a supplement to your diet. They do contain protein (though not as high as often touted), they are fiberous, and contain lots of vitamins, minerals, and "healthy" fats. But they should be eaten in moderation, and IMO, with other foods to maintain nutritional balance in the diet.

The best, healthiest choices for nuts include almonds and walnuts. Be sure to read the labels. Often, other ingredients are added during processing - you want to avoid nuts that are loaded with sugar, salt, and preservatives.

I also recommend that you explore trying soy nuts - they are more filling than most nuts, are lower in fat, higher in protein, and have many of the same nutritional benefits.

Walnuts are IMHO the best choice - they have the highest amount of Omega 3 in them which is why I focus on these when I'm going nuts ;) I aim for a good 2oz a day.

Almonds and Walnuts are probably the top two nuts you can eat. Like someone else said, you can also check out soy nuts (not exactly super tasting but they are pretty cheap).
