I have overlapping little toes on both feet. My left one rides up just a little and my right one lays halfway onto my fourth toe all the time. I wondered who else has this and if anyone's had any problems with it.
Thanks,
Kyle

I have the same thing on both feet. Since I was a teenager my little toes have started riding up and lifting when I move my feet in certain ways. I'm 18 now and they don't touch the ground anymore and sit permanently on the edge of my fourth toes. I haven't had any problems apart from people noticing and commenting about them, which doesn't really bother me.
Are you self-conscious about your feet or are you comfortable with the way they are? I don't think I would consider having my toes corrected unless they caused pain or discomfort.

matt7861, thanks for the reply. I'm not self concious anymore. I used to think it was kind of weird looking and would try to hide my right little toe or push it down with my left foot. Eventually I just accepted that it's going to overlap anyways, so why worry about it.

Oh man! I also have overlapping toes! Although I didn't know it had a medical name until a few days ago. I was born with both of my little toes turned to "hug" the 4th toe. I've not had pain in my feet (all day long) until recently and have only just considered going to see a doctor about them. I've also got really wide feet and it makes it hard to find a shoe that fits them without being way too long. I think I'm going to see a doctor about my feet after the holidays, the pain is an all day thing now. I am also going to look for either toe seperators *sp* or some kind of support for the ball of the foot. Does anyone use these products and if so, what do you recommend?

I have the left little toe overlapping the fourth toe
My father had both his toes up on top
His toes became quite flat & gave him no discomfort & he did not worry if people noticed them
He used to say "if you do not like them, then do not look"
If my foot starts hurting (wearing new or tight shoes), by squashing the fourth toe underneath, I tape the little toe further up on my foot so it does not press down on the other toes
The little toe is quite comfortable there
The only thing I have to remember is to remove the tape when I take my shoes off otherwise everyone that sees it pulled up think it looks strange
They also think that it is hurting me but it is comfortable up there
Have you tried this or don't your toes hurt when wearing tight or pointed shoes ?
Are your toes heredity ?
Thanks,
Kyle

I don't know if it's heredity or what but luckily they don't hurt or anything. I'm not into pointy shoes so that's not a problem. Some dress shoes aren't too comfortable but from what I gather, that's the case no matter how your feet are shaped.

My husband has overlapping 5th toes on both feet. It is a genetic condition he inherited from his father and grandmother. For years he did not do anything about them but he likes to run and over the years has developed foot pain from Plantar Fascitis and they say the overlapping toe is making that condition worse. He is scheduled to have surgery for both in three weeks. The tendon on the overlapping toe will be cut and the skin on top cut and also underneath. The Doc said he may need to shave the bone some also. Additonally he will need a pin through his toe to hold it straight for the healing process which is 4 weeks on crutches and 2 more weeks walking with a special shoe on heels only. If anyone is interested I will post again with the results. He will be fully recovered around Jan. 20. If all goes well he may get the other one fixed in the future. He looks forward to pain free running and best of all wearing flip flops someday!
