Hey people, bit of an awkward question but when i go to the toilet i get a sharp sort of pain as if something is torn and when i go to the toilet it is been pushed back on itself and pulling at the 'wound' any ideas? is it serious?

I'm sorry... I need more details. Did you recently have surgery? What wound are you referring to? If you do have a wound there, obviously make sure you keep clean so no infection sets in. To help with the movement, you may want to start to use some stool softeners for a little while, like docusate sodium. Also, increasing your fiber and water intake will help.

But, please fill us in on more details-- no questions is too awkward for this board!

If I read you correct it sounds like some kind of obstruction low down, near the anus, possibly a hemerhoid. Are you using the word "wound" because there is pain or as Cancerdad asked, have you actually been wounded?

If there is pain accompanied by a feeling of tearing or of not emptying the rectum(still feel like you have to go) it could be serious. You will have to have a doctor examine you. You may want to start using a hemmerhoid treatment now though. It can't hurt and may help.Same goes for Cancerdad's suggestions.

i get no pain any other time apart from when i go to the toilet, i have no previous wound, just get a feeling like something is torn just as the stool comes out

You should get it checked out but it sounds like a fissure.

are they serious? it stopped a few days ago but then when i went to the toilet it was hard and dry then i started getting the pain again
