View Full Version : Allergic to deodorants...etc

Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for alternative substances to use as deodorants, I tried the crystal, doesn't work, and have bought every herbal deodorant on the market, regular antiperspirants and deodorants just don't work, they make me break out in hives & welts. I'm thinking I should use essential oils or something if I can find a good-smelling one...

I also react to any kind of powerderd make-up, foundation, cream on my face as well as nickel allergy, no watches, the button on the inside of my jeans, no jewellery at all works best for me.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thx.

I started having the same problem about 10 years ago. The crystal deodorant works for me as nothing else would. I don't have a very bad problem with bo though so I am fortunate. I cannot even change my shampoo and cream rinse or my chest and back break out in little bumps... some makeups would cause problems and then no more colognes.... last year it was lipstick... I was just diagnosed with Psoriasis this past March and have never asked if it is possible that it's all related. If you find anything out, please post it... I'd like to be able to wear lipstick again since my lips are fading as I get older....

Are the hives/welts local - are they limited only to where you apply the antiperspirants? Or are they all over?

I have been searching for the cause of my hives, and one of the things I have done is cut my exposure to all kinds of different things. Don't know if it will help, but it's worth a try. Antiperspirant is one of the things I eliminated. I use the crystal deoderant instead. I find it works on odor, but not wetness. I am willing to live with it.

Thanks for posting.
