Have any of you ever had bleached blonde hair (not naturally blonde) and decided to put a lot darker color in it? Did you color it darker using a permanent or semi-permanent color? I was bleached very blonde for probably a total of ten minutes haha, but I hated it so much that I had the stylist add a dark red right afterwards. I loved the red, it looks really good on me! The problem is that she used a semi-permanent, said it would be too damaging to use a permanent. The semi faded a lot to a light to medium copper, this copper shade has stuck in my hair for a few months. I was going to remove it, but I decided that I love dark red so much (I already have some red in my natural color anyway), so I've decided that I want to color it again, something much more red and darker than it is now, and something NOT coppery. But I don't know if using a permanent color will be damaging and do not know if it will truly stick. It's been a few months since it was bleached. And my roots are also over an inch. Does anyone have any advice about this? Thanks for any help!

I just whent from bleach blonde to my natural color dark brown.
I used a permanent hair color. last year I colored my dark brown hair bleach blonde it took a couple times but it worked. Then when winter came I colored it back to dark brown with a permanent color. over time the brown faded so by this summer I was back to being blonde. I am now brown again and by next summer it will be blonde again from all the fading.
Good Luck

CattyS, I was wondering if you colored it on your own at home? Did the permanent color make your roots look a different color than the bleached part you dyed? And did that permanent color do any damage to your already bleached hair? For me, eventhough the semi-permanent color that was added to my bleached hair faded a lot it hasn't gone back to the blonde, I don't think it ever will.

When I do a major change like that I usually go to the salon. I bleached my hair myself - it was a pretty nasty white/orange (can you picture that?!) I went to the salon to fix it, he was able get it light brown but couldn't get it to take any more color. I was told to wash only in cold water or the color would surely fade and possibly break off. My hair was a big mess after that till it grew out. Now, if I wan't to to a big switch, I go to the salon. But I still do my roots myself. But I know many people who do it themselves without problems. Hope that helps.

I do mine myself. It did not damage it anymore. The roots turned out the same color as the rest of my hair.
