This is my 1st stomah virus since I was Dx with diabetes which was a year ago. I`m on avandia 4mg 1 a day. About 2 hr after I took all my morning meds I started throwing up. After awhile I felt ok and tried to eat a little potato salad but it came up. I haven`t eaten all day and know I need to try but don`t know how to handle eating anything with sugar. My B/S was 140 awhile go.Can`t get a dr here without going to ER and most waits here are 6-8 hrs. My question is what do I tey to eat? Thanks

Here is a link to the sick day plan from the American Diabetes Association.

Good luck and I hope you feel better soon

There is great advice in that link, but I have an issue with the juice recommendation. I think that fruit juice can really wreak havok on your glucose levels (especially a T2). I think that if you stick to the 50 carb gram recommendation - in low-sodium soups, crackers, rice, natural applesauce (no sugar added) you will do fine. Drink as much water as you possibly can - choose seltzer over diet sodapop if the bubbles will help your tummy. And follow the food every 3-hours recommendation - it is VITAL.

Thanks Mommy and JD. I finaly got in touch with my dr and he sent me the usual supp. Thank good ness i got over it fast. The last one I had 3 yrs ago i ended up in ER and after IV meds and again supp. I was sent home with the dry heaves and could not get out of bed or keep anything at all down.My husband insisted that I go to the dr at the end of 3 days and my potassium was 2 very very low. I wasn`t monitoring my b/s then so don`t know what it was. For some reason when I get a stomach virus (seldom) it stays for days and nothing in the line of meds help. i did read the web page and book marked it so i can go back and study it. Thanks again
