Hey,

I am allergic to peanuts, and I carry epi-pens everywhere. I am extremely careful towards reading ingredients and making sure that everything is safe. Lately i've been feeling down, because a lot of my friends can just get up and go and not have to worry about these sort of problems. I'm wishing I didn't have this allergy which I know sounds ridiculous, but It's hard to see my friends with out troubles and I'm thinking of trying these needles that my doctor reccomended for me. The needles test you to see if you are still allergic. I am scared to do this though because I would not want to react. Im young and confused please help me!

I can understand you MizzNero, and what are those needle test that you've mentioned? What's the name of the test? How does it work? Is it just an allergy test?

There are actually many ways that a food allergy person can hang out with their friends and not worry about the food they eat. You can pack your own food, that way, you will not have to worry if there is anything inside that you are allergic to. Or maybe you and your friends can go to some place to eat where you have gone to the place to eat before and can trust the cooks not to include anything offending to your system.

Another way is to eat at home before you go and meet your friends! And when they are eating, maybe you can just have a cup of drink/juice.

I know how you feel about not wanting to react... but if the needle test is really beneficial to you, then go for it. The medical staffs should be equiped to handle any anaphylaxis attack if there's one(make sure they have those required medications and stuffs in the room). But at the end of the day, it's still your choice to go for the test or not... I know it can be scary. Good luck!!!
