After taking 2 courses of diflucan and still having yeast inf., my dr. took a culture and said it was a resistant type yeast, not the usual type and prescribed boric acid capsules for me. you can't get them at a regular pharmacy, you get them at a compounding facility. i insert one a night for 7 days then twice a week for 10 weeks!! I've finished the week course and fell no better. Has anyone ever heard of this treatment?

Yes, I have heard of it. I wonder if they could tell from the culture that the boric acid would be effective; did your doctor mention whether they tested for its effectiveness against the type of yeast you have? They even sell tea tree oil suppositories at health food stores for treating yeast, but I would not use them without a doctor's okay. Take plenty of acidophilus (also from a health food store. 4 billion live bacteria per day is the suggested dose) while doing these treatments, and really try to minimize the sugars you eat (including fruit juice, white flour, and refined sugars.) Good luck to you!

The dr. said that this type of yeast only responded to the boric acid treatment. i thought i'd be feeling better by now, am going to see the dr. tomorrow.

I would seek out another opinion- this sounds like it could be a different kind of infection.
