Hello all,
I have a real problem! About 3 months ago I started having attacks of acute, stabbing pain in my lower right side. They started at a time when my period was about 3 weeks late. My period finally started but it was so painful! My doc gave me 3 days off work, some antibiotics and told me to come back in a couple of weeks if I was still having problems.
The pain continued...stabbing pains as well as horrible cramps that stretch across my lower abdomen. I saw my doc again and he was surprised that the antibiotics didn't help (they think that cures all!!). He did a pelvic exam which was incredibly painful because he had to push on my right side. After that he sent me to the hospital for an emergency ultrasound which ended up showing nothing. The doctor there mentioned endometriosis as a possibility but sent me on my way saying, "Watch your cycles over the next few months and we'll go from there".
The pain is still there and is now getting worse as it's approaching the time when my next period is due. Ovulation was also quite intense this month which isn't normal for me. I'm usually quite pain free. My lower right abdomen is very sore at the moment and the stabbing pains double me over. Last night my husband had to take me to the ER because of the pain but they turned me away saying that I had to go back to my family doc because I was under his care.
I just want some help and some answers! It's so depressing to have this pain and not knowing why. :(
I've been trying to think if I've had any pain like this before and I have had some episodes in the past but nothing so prolonged and intense. Anybody have any ideas? I'm desparate!
Thanks so much!

Its strange that the ER would send you away. It could be endo, or a cyst. I would push your doc to find out whats going on. Pain that doesnt go away is not good. I had endo, my pain would only come when I was getting my period and during my period.
Good Luck and dont let them bulldoze you.

Thanks craftlady!
In a bid to reduce waiting times at the Emergency department if you have a problem that's gone on for longer than 48 hours they won't treat you. You're just sent back to your GP. I guess I was just hoping something could be done this morning because I felt so awful! The pain is getting worse as it's getting closer to my period. I'm going to phone my doc in the morning to try to get in and see him. It's just so depressing to be in pain and not get any answers or help!
Take care!
