View Full Version : Straterra side effects

Howdy !
I am a 40 year old who was diagnosed as having ADHD.
I haven't been on any meds for over 30 years, and decided it was time to go back on them. Driving myself and everyone else crazy with my insatiable energy drive, incessant chattering, interrupting, and my flux in attention in my college courses prompted me to go to the doc.
The first doc I went to prescribed 80 ml of Straterra instantly. Now, I didn't know anything about it, but I distinctly remember raising my eyebrows at the dosage. He assured me I'd be fine.
I went on 40 ml for the first few days, and was to switch over to the 80 ml.
The 40 ml made me sick as a dog. I encountered profuse sweating and felt like I was going to internally combust, then I got chills after that with nausea.
I ended up taking the pill at 4 am so I could get over the side effects and be able to go to work. The remaining side effects were:
My hands, feet, and nose were in a perpetual state of 'freezing'
My eyes were constantly widening (like they do when you are baffled)
Agitation
Sleeplessness
Tics
Grating of teeth

When I attempted to take the 80 ml, I just about died. I tried this twice, and I won't do it again.
I have another appointment with a clinic to modify this medication or switch.
We'll see how it goes. My boyfriend is on Concerta, and although he experiences the 'coldness', he doesn't have the other symptoms as much.
I want off Straterra. I hate it.
Thanks for listening, and it's great to be here to understand more

now I'm starting to believe these things are mostly all in the head. I love strattera, I was supposed to discontinue, but because it helps me sleep so well I still take it, and I've been taking it for 2 months. When I first started taking it I noticed I would actually have dreams and I'd wake up feeling completely refreshed.
