Hi,

I need to know the name of a good eye make up remover. I bought Maybelline waterproof mascara and the make up remover that is made for it but it doesn't work worth a darn. It says to wet a make up pad with the remover, hold against the lashes for a few seconds and then wipe off mascara. Right...I had to keep rubbing and using tons of the remover to get it off! It took forever! I tried to be gentle but my eyes still looked irritated in the morning when I put my contacts in and it was an uncomfortable day to say the least. I need something that will take off the make up without too much rubbing.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Willow,

Yves Rocher makes a gentle and effective eye makeup remover. It is called Yves Rocher Eye Makeup Remover with Camomile. It's in a blue bottle and is about $9 Canadian for around 150ml. I'm not sure if this is available where you live. This product is water-based so it doesn't fell oily. It is also not detergent based so it does not foam up and does not sting your eyes.

Lancome's Bi-facil eye makeup remover is also good. It is expensive though, about $27 a bottle. Although it says it is oil-free, I find it very very oily. It does a good job removing makeup but you really have to wash your face afterwards to remove the oiliness.

Hope this helped.

Thanks for the info! I am on my way to the drugstore this morning so I will definitely pick them up and give them a try. The prices don't bother me too much...if it works well, I'm willing to pay it. Anything is better than the Maybelline remover I tried! I'm in Toronto so I'm pretty sure I'll be able to find it.

Once again thanks for your help!

I would recommend that you not use waterproof mascara.
It is difficult to remove w/almost anykind of removers. I've literally yank eyelashes out. I realize it stays on better, but I do believe I'd only wear on special occasions. Thats what I do.

Lancome has an excellent waterproof mascara remover. It is great for sensitive eyes too. Like the previous poster....I wouldn't use waterproof mascara all the time. It is not that good for your lashes.-Roni

I just use baby oil-then wash my face afterwards and it works fine in removing my waterproof mascara. http://www.healthboards.com/ubb/smile.gif

I use the lotions that I have around my house. It makes my eye lids really smooth and my under eyes. It takes it all for me and I'm addicted to mascara.

I also use lotion to take off my makeup but be careful around the eyes. I don't use much mascara so mine has worn off by morning if I dont take it off.
